International Peer Review of the Development Education Sector in Ireland, April 2015.
A GENE review team is currently conducting a review of Irish Aid funded Development Education in Ireland. GENE (Global Education Network Europe) is the European network of Ministries and Agencies responsible for support, funding and policy-making in the field of Global Education.
Over the last three months IDEA has facilitated the establishment and running of three task groups focusing on Development Education in Formal education, in the Adult and Community Education and in the Youth sector. Each group worked to identify key successes, opportunities, challenges and strategic priorities in their area. The coordinator of the DEBATE Project participated in the Adult and Community Education task group. The outcome of these deliberations will be presented to GENE on the 29th of April at the Irish Aid Development Education Consultation Day in Farmleigh.
The Consultation Day will be an important opportunity to engage with Irish Aid in preparing for the next Development Education Strategy which will be launched in 2016. Melíosa Bracken, Coordinator of the DEBATE Project will represent the Adult and Community Education Sector during Panel Discussions. The event will be live tweeted throughout the day and you can follow the process at #DevEdDay
